Violet Richardson Award (2022) Recipient

I would just like to give thanks to the Soroptimist International of Vancouver for recognizing my efforts in the Richmond community. And I greatly appreciate being given the Violet Richardson Award by a wonderful organization that continues to provide a place of support, empowerment, and comfort for all women.

Project Bloom is my community initiative, where I distribute origami flowers with encouraging messages, and origami craft kits with tutorial videos. Through this, I am able to spread my love of origami to the community, as well as joy and encouragement to others. Originally I was inspired to start my project through Sadako, the girl who folded 1000 paper cranes. From Project Bloom and my experiences, I have been able to connect with a diverse group of people. And through these occurrences and interactions, I have not only been able to improve and expand my project, but find confidence and meaning in myself.

Once again, thank you to all the people who have helped me make my project to what it is today. Especially to my family members who have supported me, and to all the organizations that accepted and integrated Project Bloom into their programs. Overall I am very blessed to be a part of a community that continues to endorse and thrive in support, and be able to have the chance to keep on spreading joy.
